Deactivating auto-update is as simple as disabling the windows scheduler entry. easy to do from scheduled tasks in the control panel.

Security risks, slightly increasing with time.

If you use a strictly limited number of sites to watch and play, you could use an alternative browser for specifically those purposes - even an older one (make sure you don't browse much and don't click shit).
Though I guess other guys here might get up to advising you on some specific plug-in problems, so stay tuned.

Yes, there are settings in "Preferences" there (I'm not with Opera now, can you stroll there yourself, please).

is there a eay I can be notified when someone answers my Opera Forum?

Go to your profile (upper right corner) and choose the "Notifications" tab: you can choose to get notified in three or more cases - including your threads, starred threads, etc.

The blocking was back but I have actually found the culprit, it was Ghostery. Apparently they had an update which blocked the popup when I clicked on the embedded link for chat on the Dish network support page, and other pages. I put that page's address in the Ghostery whitepaper list and it is now working fine. I'll just have to watch out for this behavior. But, at least I now know how to fix it. I could just turn off Ghostery but it blocks websites from tracking me and somehow I just don't like that as it just leads to more ads. I'm just sick of ads. That's why we DVR all the network shows and many cable/satellite only channels. Some channels like AMC have become impossible to watch without using your DVR. I mean it's 5 minutes of program and 10 minutes of ads! UGG!!

it also happens to me and it doesn't matter what version it is. It seems to happen with all the blink-based Opera versions. For reference, I'm using Win 8.1 x64, Opera 26. I use Nod32 and Comodo firewall, but things seem to work fine with mozilla-based browsers and IE. After a while, blink-based browsers seem to halt the computer. You don't need to restart as it evenutally comes back, but process explorer or task manager will show 100% CPU and 100% disk usage attributed to no one process, but to the SYSTEM process.

it's odd and only reproducible after browsing for a period of time. I've noticed several other posts about the exact same thing, but it hasn't been seriously investigated for a solution.
Please Help. In Opera 26 everything is different. Switching between Tabs, Ctrl-z

That one seems to work only half-way (Okay, it's a flag ): Cycling itself does work OK AFAICT, but closing a tab will not obey that order (I don't know it that's ever been given a thought, but one without the other isn't working for me)

The flag only covers tab cycling because that is all it was ever designed to do. Closing order is a separate issue. It shouldn't be the same flag or setting anyway because not everyone wants both.

thats sad what u writing and there is now hope , for useful opera...new engine, new architecture, the forcecomming changes i understand , time is unbeatin, but the browser should be as easy and as fast in use as can be..and now one tell me that the sidebar(left panel) or every mouse gestures have slow down the use of opera.

You've used for years translates into - they've been around a very long time. The most popular browsers don't bother with them because they're not needed. And if there are extensions that mimic them then all the more reason for the developers to move on to more important things.

Surely if BitDefender is blocking Opera and slowing it down, It's a BitDefender problem, or at least it's something the BitDefenders developers should be notified about ?.

Or maybe it's just a badly configured BitDefender ?.
